Obituary of Gabriel R. Imbemba
Gabriel “Gabe” R. Imbemba, 100, of Howell passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at home. He was born and raised in New York City, NY and had lived in Bergenfield before settling in Howell in 1987. Gabe retired as a custodian for Bergen County Vocational Technical School District in Hackensack. He previously worked in the warehouse at Holland House Coffee, NYC and in retirement, worked at Jamesway in Freehold. Gabe was as devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Freehold. He was an active member of the Surrey Downs community. Gabe was a die-hard Yankees and Giants fan. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, cooking, and loved to just sit in the sun.
Gabe was predeceased by his wife, Mary J. Imbemba in 2012; two brothers; and a sister. He is survived by his three sons, Eugene “Gene” J. Imbemba and his wife, Patricia of Belford, Thomas Imbemba of Wilmington, DE, and Gabriel “Bill” A. Imbemba and his wife, Diane of Marlboro; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two nieces, Annette and Rosemarie.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM for the procession to his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold. Entombment will follow in Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Holmdel.
