Obituary of James Darconte
James Darconte, 92, of Freehold Township passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at home. He was born and raised in New York City and had lived in South Beach, Staten Island before setting in the Silvermead community in 1999. James was the owner and operator of Jimmy’s Grocery Store in Little Italy for over 40 years. In his retirement, he worked at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Freehold. James was a hard worker and always went out of his way to help others. He was a loving husband, father, and an all-around good man.
James was predeceased by his son, Eugene Darconte in 1991 and two brothers, Ernest and Joseph Darconte. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frances Darconte of Freehold Township; daughter, Denise Zirpola and her husband, Edward of Florida; grandchildren, Christopher and Thomas Zirpola of Florida; and a brother, Eugene Darconte and his wife, Gail of Las Vegas.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township, on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM with his Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 AM at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
