Obituary of Henry Fanizzi
HENRY FANIZZI, 77, of FREEHOLD, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Mr. Fanizzi was born in Connecticut and had lived in Brooklyn before moving to Freehold in 1994. He was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Freehold. He was a stationary engineer for the Lincoln Savings Bank, Brooklyn, for more than 25 years, retiring in 1992. After his retirement, he was a driver for the David Michael Motor Group.
He was predeceased by seven brothers. Surviving are his wife of 49 1/2 years, Mary Fanizzi; two sons, Peter Fanizzi of Union Beach, and Stephen Fanizzi of Brooklyn; two daughters, Marylynn Verdi and her husband Nicholas of Freehold, and Kathy Nikitas and her husband Dean of Old Bridge; a daughter-in-law, Gamble Fanizzi of Howell; and six grandchildren, Stephen, Jaclyn, Meghan, John, Alexa, and Mya.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal, followed by his 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, McLean Street, Freehold. Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Henry may be made to the Tribute Program, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 and would be appreciated.
