Obituary of Anthony E. Mangione

Anthony E. Mangione, 74, of Highlands passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.  He was born and raised in Paterson, and had lived in Fairlawn, Lodi, and Hollywood, FL before settling in Middletown in 2017.  Tony was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Paterson where he was a star first baseman and was the manager of the basketball team.  Prior to his retirement in 1992, he was the Supervisor of Installment Loans at 1^st National Bank of Passaic County and later at Hudson Trust.  In his spare time, Tony enjoyed trips to Atlantic City to play Omaha Poker and was a fan of the Yankees and the Giants.  He volunteered in his spare time coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball in Fairlawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Marguerite Mangione.  Tony is survived by his brother, George Mangione and his wife, Deborah of Howell; goddaughter and niece, Anna Mangione of Howell; many cousins; goddaughter, Karen Conroy; godson, Brandon DeRoos; and dear friend, Patricia DeRoos. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Thursday, October 18, 2018 for the procession to his 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9 North, Howell.  Interment will be private.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
