Obituary of Albert Keppler Bollmeyer

Albert Keppler Bollmeyer, 86, of Manchester passed away peacefully on Friday, November 2, 2018.  He was born in Freehold and had lived in Howell Township.  Along with his wife, Al moved to Leisure Ridge in Manchester in 1996.  He was also a part-time resident of Naples, FL since 1992.  Al graduated from Freehold High School in 1950 and Rutgers University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.  He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War.   Al married his wife, Phyllis Huff in 1956.  He returned to Rutgers receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1957 and then earned his Master’s Degree in Education in 1964.   Al was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.  He was a math teacher at Long Branch High School for thirty-four years, retiring in 1991.  Al was a member of Ardena Baptist Church, Howell Twp. where he served as a deacon for many years and as treasurer for seventeen years. He was an associate member of the Community Congregational Church in Bonita Springs, FL. Al was a master mason of the Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #16, F. & A.M., Freehold for 65 years and was a member of the Crescent Temple Shriners Provost Guard, Trenton. He was also a member of the Leisure Ridge Veterans Association.  Al enjoyed time with family, his extensive travels and the time he spent in Florida. He took great pride in his homes and spent hours tending to his rose gardens and peony beds and maintaining a lawn you were almost afraid to walk on.

Al was a devoted family man who doted on his children and grandchildren.   There was virtually no favor or task that you couldn’t rely Dad or PopPop to carry out with precision but most of all love.  He taught all of us kindness, responsibility, honesty, and a strong work ethic.

Al is survived by his wife of 62 years, Phyllis Ann Bollmeyer (nee Huff); children, Janet N. Manni of the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township and Richard A. Bollmeyer and his wife, Ann Marie of Freehold Township; grandchildren, Ryan W. Walker, Emily C. Rosenthal and her husband, Will, Melissa M. Bollmeyer and Richard K. Bollmeyer; sister, Ruth E. Harvey and her husband, Lee of Copake, NY; niece, Suzanne; and nephew, David.
