Obituary of John Lisowski
JOHN I. LISOWSKI, 70, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Sunday, Oct. 28, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. He was born in Jersey City and lived in Little Falls until moving to Freehold in 1977. Mr. Lisowski was a partner with the Law Firm of Tompkins, McGuire, Wachenfeld & Barry in Newark. He attended Seton Hall Prep, where he was the editor of the Cetonian School Paper and was the recipient of the 1954 Columbia Scholastic Press Award. He received his B.A. also at Seton Hall and his L.L.B. in 1963. Mr. Lisowski was, from 1964 to 1976, principally involved in the defense of medial malpractice cases brought against physicians and hospitals. Mr. Lisowski was an expert in the defense of product liability matters brought against many national and international companies, including Honda Motor Co. and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, where he received many awards including the Samurai Warrior Award. Mr. Lisowski was the third such lawyer to receive the award form Honda and the first to receive the award from Kawasaki. He argued over 100 appeals before the Appellate court of New Jersey and the United States Third Court of Appeals. John was successful in the defense and representation of manufacturers' products and consumer products.
He was predeceased by his son, John Jr. in December of 2006. Surviving are his wife, Joan B. Sherman-Lisowski of Freehold Township, a partner with the firm of Sherman & Viscomi in Somerset; three sons, James and his wife, Valerie of Belle Mead, David Andrew and Jeremy Adam (his very special son), both of Freehold Township; two daughters, Mary Muntone and her husband, Daniel of Washington Township and Ellen Richter and her husband, Joseph of California; seven grandchildren; and one sister and her husband, Janice and William Bornemann of Red Bank. He was also a beloved friend of Sonia and Milton Roth of Freehold Township.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral on Wednesday with a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Twp., NJ.
