Obituary of John D. Monti

John D. Monti, 85, of Freehold Township passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.  He was born in New York City, raised in Brooklyn, and settled in Freehold Township in 1995.  John was an avid DVD collector and a world class practical joker.  He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and cooking.  Above all else, John loved his family, and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and daughters-in-law.

John was predeceased by his parents, Giovanni and Maria Monti; brothers, Emilio and Vincent Monti; and sisters, Angelina and Rose Monti. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Rita Monti of Freehold Township; sons, Edward Monti and his wife, Susan of Howell and Adam Monti and his wife, Michele of Howell; grandsons, Nicholas and Christopher; and his faithful canine best friend, Baci.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 9:00 AM for the procession to his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, Marlboro.  For those who desire, donations may be made in John’s name to the Freehold Township Police Department, 1 Municipal Plaza, Freehold Township, NJ 07728.
