Obituary of Edwin Charles Carter

Edwin Charles Carter, 87, of Jackson passed away at home on Monday, December 24, 2018. He was born in Jenkintown, PA, and was raised in Philadelphia, PA and Port Arthur, TX. Edwin graduated from South Philadelphia High School.  He also lived in Lindenwold, Marlton, and Ocean Township, before moving to Jackson in 2003. After high school he joined the Merchant Marines with Atlantic Refining Company where he traveled the world.  Edwin then served in the United States Army, CIC division.  He went on to graduate from Drexel University in 1962.  After graduation, Edwin joined the firm of Ernst and Young. He also worked for RCA, Prudential, and Marsh McClennan, NYC (formerly Johnson and Higgins) retiring in 1991.  Edwin was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.  He was a member of the West Lake Golf and Country Club.  As a certified CPA, Edwin belonged to the AICPA, the NJSCPA, and the Society of Insurance Accountants.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail Carter of Jackson; son, Christopher Carter and his wife, Peggy of Parker, CO; son, Thomas Carter of Red Bank; daughter, Kimberly Blind of Howell; son-in-law, Joseph Blind of Brick; grandchildren; Hannah Fischer and her husband, Hayden, Rachel Loftin and her husband, Luke, Abigail Carter, Kristin and Joseph Blind; brother, Laurence Carter; niece, Corrine Carter; and nephews, Dr. Lee Carter and Thomas P.G. Franklin.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:30 PM with his memorial service to follow at 3:30 PM.
