Obituary of Gary C. Remlinger

Gary C. Remlinger, 73, of Parlin passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at JFK Medical Center, Edison with his loving family by his side. He was born in East Orange and raised in Springfield.  Gary had lived in St. Louis, MO, Pittsburgh, PA, and Camillus, NY before settling in Parlin in 1984.  He worked as a service representative for Cincinnati Inc., in Ohio for 30 years, retiring in 2009.  Gary loved to fish out of Brielle and was a member of the US Boating Administration.  He was not only a skilled cook, but a talented woodworker, painter, and enjoyed working with stained glass. He also enjoyed working on H.O. Railroad model trains. Gary had a passion for electronics and took pride in his HiFi stereo system and record collection. 

Gary was predeceased by his father, Charles A. Remlinger and his wife, Patricia L. Remlinger; mother, Doris Johnstone and her husband, John Johnstone; and sister, Sharon Remlinger.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara “Bobbi” Remlinger of Parlin; daughter, Donna Fortney and her husband, Joe of Spring Lake Heights; son, Brian Remlinger and his wife, Kendra of Howell; grandchildren, Cooper, Keaton, Quinn, and Delaney; and sister, Tricia Remlinger of East Brunswick.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM with his memorial service at 3:00 PM. Interment will be private.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s name to the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961-0476.
