Obituary of Gaetano Bonadonna
Gaetano “Tommy” Bonadonna, 76, of Freehold passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Manhattan, raised in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn, and had lived in Sheepshead Bay before settling here in 2003. Tommy served in the US Navy aboard the USS Shangri La. Upon his return, he went to work as a computer programmer for Carnival Creations in Linden for over 40 years. Tommy coached and volunteered for Kings Bay Football and was a member of Friends of Sports Club. He was a diehard Rangers, Yankees and Giants fan. Known fondly as “Pop” by his grandchildren, he loved watching them play sports.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Josetta Bonadonna; daughter, Nicole Pellone and her husband, Carmine of Jackson; son, Michael Bonadonna and his husband, Douglas Bielanski of Howell; grandsons, Carmine, Jr., Thomas, and Christian; sister, Loretta Matrone of Freehold; and numerous nieces and nephews that were very dear to him.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, and on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will follow in Brigadier General Wm. C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Arneytown.
