Obituary of Shirley Komisarczyk
Shirley T. Komisarczyk nee Swinscoe, 81, of Marlboro passed away on October 13, 2012 at CentraState Medical Center surrounded by her family. Shirley was born in Cascade, Maryland on November 6, 1930, raised in the Bronx and had lived in Colonia, Old Bridge and Englishtown before settling in Marlboro in 2002. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, cum laude, from Fordham University and a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Supervision and Administration, summa cum laude, from Seton Hall University where she was honored with the General Excellence Award. Shirley was a school teacher for the Old Bridge Township Public Schools working in the Carl Sandburg and Jonas Salk Middle Schools, various elementary schools and retired from Cedar Ridge High School after 22 years of service in 1992. She was a life member of the NJEA.
Shirley is survived by three sons, Richard Clonan and his wife, Gail of Tinton Falls, Brian Clonan and his wife, Christine of Marlboro, and Christopher Clonan and his wife, Lisa of East Windsor; two daughters, Eileen Monesson and her husband, Greg of Jackson and Shirlene Soos and her husband, Frank of Somerset; twelve grandchildren, Elyse, Kyle, Brendan, Kelley, Bradley, Chelsey and her husband, Jason, Rhiannon, Ryan, Stephanie, Corey, Justin and Jessica; a great granddaughter on the way; two sisters, Patricia Brown of Monticello, NY and Diane Donohue of Freehold; her former husband, Robert P. Clonan and his wife, Marie of Forked River; and her longtime companion, the late Alfred Lipkin and his daughters, Janet Cargotch of Bluffton, SC and Paula Suarez of Las Vegas, NV.
Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 8:30 AM for the procession to St. Gabriel's Historical Church, 549 Route 520, Marlboro, NJ for her 10:00 AM funeral mass. Entombment will follow at St. Gabriel's Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Shirley may be made to St. Simon Stock Elementary School, 2195 Valentine Avenue, Bronx, NY 10457.
