Obituary of Emilio Acosta
Emilio Acosta, 92, of Union City passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2019 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Emilio was born in Victoria De Las Tunas, Oriente, Cuba. He had lived there until immigrating to the United States in 1967, settling in Union City, New Jersey. Emilio worked for Airborne Freight, Newark for over twenty years as a truck driver until his retirement in 1992. He had a passion for working on cars but most of all he was a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring Abuelo to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Emilio was predeceased by his three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Idelisa (nee Calleja) Acosta; children, Rebeca Rueda and her husband, Orlando of the Dominican Republic, Robert Acosta and his wife, Lourdes of Jackson, NJ, Liliam Gonzalez and her husband, William of Howell, NJ, and Ileana Borbolla and her husband Daniel of Indian Trail, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Orlando Rueda and his wife, Melody, Franchesca Byrum and her husband, David, Alexander Acosta and his wife, Lauren, Eliana Acosta, Jennifer Reiner and her husband, Timothy, Vanessa Gonzalez, Stephanie Borbolla, Melissa Borbolla, and Brielle Borbolla; five great-grandchildren, Aaron, Noah, Ava, Sophia, and Leanna.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, Route 520, Marlboro, on Friday, March 8. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, Marlboro. Arrangements by Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township NJ.
