Obituary of Richard Peter Cannizzaro

Richard Peter Cannizzaro, 80, of Howell passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Atlantic Coast Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Lakewood.  He was born and raised in Passaic and had lived in Piscataway before settling in Howell in 1975.  Richard proudly served in the United States Army and worked as an engineer for AT&T in Newark for over 30 years. He played basketball and baseball throughout high school and went on to play in the minor leagues for the Brooklyn Dodgers.  Richard was an avid racing fan and enjoyed attending Indy car races with his son, Jim.  He loved music, especially jazz and blues.  Above all else, Richard’s greatest joy was watching his granddaughter, Anna, play softball. 

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Marie Cannizzaro and sister, Francine Mangone. He is survived by his children, Jim Cannizzaro and his wife, Michelle Cevone of Lanoka Harbor, Chris Cannizzaro of Howell, and Diane Jones of Howell; grandchildren, Anna Marie Cannizzaro and Jacob Cannizzaro; brother, Michael Cannizzaro and his wife, Denise of Lake Hopatcong; nephew, Rich Mangone of Oak Ridge; niece, Stephanie Mangone of East Rutherford; and faithful canine companion, Chloe.
