Obituary of Gloria Benney
GLORIA R. BENNEY, 57, of FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, at home. Mrs. Benney was born in Philadelphia and lived in Connecticut and Boston before moving to Freehold Township 10 years ago. She was a communicant and lector at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold Township. She was also a founder and member of the church choir. Mrs. Benney graduated with honors from Brookdale Community College with a degree in music. She was a lifelong member of the Girl Scouts. She was a legal secretary for various law firms in New Jersey.
She was predeceased by her father, Edward "Judy" Rominecki. Surviving are her husband, Joseph R. Benney; two sons, Christopher J. Benney and his wife Tricia of West Hartford, Conn., and David J. Benney of Freehold Township; a daughter, Elizabeth J. Benney of Freehold Township; a sister, Deborah Weber of Freehold Township; and her mother and stepfather, Rose and Thomas McCurey of Willow Grove, Pa.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home for the Rite of Committal followed by her 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Family and friends may gather at noon Tuesday at the funeral home for her interment in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
