Obituary of James Markunas
James Markunas, 52, of Howell passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 surrounded by his family at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Red Bank, raised in Old Bridge and lived in North Brunswick prior to settling in Howell in 1993. Jimmy worked at Malouf Ford – Lincoln, North Brunswick for 28 years. He could often be found fishing out of the Shark River Inlet, at the Manasquan Reservoir, or watching the races at Wall Stadium. A handy man at heart, Jimmy enjoyed riding his bicycle, and spending time with his girls.
He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Joan Budzek. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Patricia Markunas of Howell; daughters, Jessica and Melissa, both of Howell; parents, Richard and Julia Markunas of Old Bridge; brothers, David Markunas and his wife, Irene of Millstone, and Daniel Markunas and his wife, Ayano of Livingston, NY; father-in-law, William Budzek of Old Bridge; sisters-in-law, Lisa Kovacs and her husband, Jay of Columbia, MD, and Marge Jurich and her husband, Rob of Fredericksburg, VA; several nieces and nephews; and a faithful dog, Raisin.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
