Obituary of Dawn Marie Giobbie Ignarra
Dawn Marie Giobbie Ignarra, 59, of Millstone passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Capital Health System, Trenton. She was born and raised in the New Dorp section of Staten Island, and had lived in Brick prior to settling in Millstone in 2002. A retired NY City Police Officer, Dawn was injured on duty with a gunshot to the head and neck. Her strength and determination helped her to overcome her injury. She was a baker and a great cook, a caregiver at heart; the most wonderful person who always did for others. Dawn was known for fixing everything and was fearless in all that she did. In retirement, Dawn returned to work post-911 with a bomb dog in Manhattan. She was also the President of I Tech Services of Millstone since 1999. Dawn was a member of the NY City PBA, the Federal Order of Police, and the Jersey Shore 10-13 Association.
She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Giobbie in 2010; and her mother, Florence Giobbie in 2012. Dawn leaves behind to mourn her loss her loving husband of 28 years, Eduardo Ignarra of Millstone; son, Michael Ignarra of Danbury, CT; daughter, Christina Ignarra and her husband, Simon Lee of San Francisco, CA; sister, Laurel Giobbie and her husband, David Buegler of Doylestown, PA; brother, Anthony Giobbie and his wife, Beth of Eastampton; sister-in-law, Patricia Taormina and her husband, John of North Salem, NY; brothers-in-law, Jorge Ignarra and his wife, Laura of FL, and Alex Ignarra and his wife, Maria of Plainsboro; her dog, Gerry; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews; and cousins.
A Gathering of Friends will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM with her funeral service to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dawn may be made to Widows & Children’s Fund of New York City Police Department, Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, 125 Broad Street, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10004-2400 or to a charity of your choice.
