Obituary of Mathis Cowart, Jr.
Mathis Cowart, Jr., 76, of Monroe passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Cranbury Care Center, Monroe. He was born in Albany, GA and had lived in Perth Amboy, Manhattan and New Brunswick before moving to Monroe in 1978. Mathis was a remarkable and distinguished man who had a successful career as an accountant for Colgate-Palmolive in Piscataway for 22 years, known for being hardworking and dedicated. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed camping. Mathis was a history buff with a deep appreciation for education.
He was predeceased by his wife, Thelma Patricia Cowart; and his sister, Bennie Cowart Alexander. Mathis is survived by his daughters, Andrea Cowart of Monroe, and Kimberly Cowart of Somerville; son, Jason Cowart and his wife, Deidre of Oak Hill, FL; and six grandchildren, Michael John Skibniewski, III, Morgen Skibniewski, Matthew Skibniewski, Alexandra Cowart, Caitlin Cowart and Jason Cowart, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Freehold Church of Christ, 46 Strickland Road, Freehold from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
