Obituary of Augustus C. Parnell

Augustus C. Parnell, 72, of Farmingdale passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.  Gus was born and raised in Atlanta, GA where he met his soulmate, Dianne, in high school.  He moved to Freehold Township in 1979 and eventually settled in Farmingdale in 2010.  Prior to his retirement, Gus was an IT Consultant.  In his spare time he enjoyed golf, woodworking, bowling, and reading mysteries.  Gus was the greatest dad ever and was best described as down-to-earth with a huge heart.    More than anything, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. 

He was predeceased by his parents, Augustus and Evelyn Parnell.  Gus is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dianne Parnell of Farmingdale; son, Brian Augustus Parnell and his wife, Jennifer of Elkridge, MD; daughter, Aimee Langa and her husband, Jeff of Little Silver; grandchildren, Benjamin Parnell, Christina  Parnell, Connor  Langa, Chelsea  Langa and Charlie Langa; sister, Gloria Ernest; and his canine companion, Quincy. 

A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM with a memorial service to follow.  For those who desire, contributions in memory of Gus may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or SPCA of Monmouth County, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
