My name is Bill Johnson and I attended the New Jersey State Police Academy with Steve. In fact, we slept in the same bunk room for twenty weeks of training. I will always have fond memories of Steve's humor and his ability to keep us laughing and forging on when times were tough. He was a fine man and I am sure he will be remembered by many for his sense of humor and quick wit. I regret not being able to attend his viewing and felt the need to express my sincere condolences to your family at this time of your loss. In deepest sympathy, Bill Johnson Lieutenant New Jersey State Police

There are no words to convey the sense of loss you are all feeling. Know that there are many people sharing in your loss in their own way, because he touched so many people's lives. Janine,Tiffany, and Travis: Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I thank Steve for all the laughs we had in the football stands! Go CRIMSON! Frank, Rose, Kristina and Frankie Platas
Dear Janine, Tiffany and Travis, We moved onto Strathmore Court 20 years ago this week and at the time, we never knew that we would be fortunate enough to meet neighbors like the Kirks who would become friends with whom we would celebrate our family milestones. We did know from the start that we'd always be able to have some laughs with Steve whenever we'd talk, usually when one of us was coming or going in the car. Who could have known that when you took Barbie and Eric for ice cream before Tiffany and Travis came along that the "apple instead of ice cream" story would be told a hundred times. One thing that our family will always be indebted to Steve for is how he sat with Eric for hours on Christmas Eve discussing the pros and cons of the State Trooper offer vs. the Manalapan PD offer. Thanks to Steve, we all know that he made the right decision As Steve smiles down on you from Marine Corps/Law Enforcement Heaven, you too should smile as you remember the good times and all that he accomplished and how many lives he touched during his far too short life. We may no longer be neighbors, but please know that we will always be friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Bridget, Aadu, Barbie and Eric
Janine, Tiffany and Travis My sincerest sympathies go out to you. I really will miss Steve's corny sense of humor and that very hearty laugh. I know that nothing I say can take away your pain, but just know that I do understand everything you are going through. My only hope is that all of you will live on - Steve's memories will always be in one place that can never be taken away - your hearts....he was a good friend and boss - I will never forget him - nor will I forget you guys. All my best to you Tracey Garzione
