Obituary of Walter E. Banney

Walter E. Banney, 77 of Howell passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019.  He was born in Brooklyn and had lived in Staten Island before settling in Howell in 1977.  Walter’s passion was drag racing and he drove “The Dancing Bear” at Englishtown Raceway.  A friend to many people, he enjoyed fishing in retirement.

Walter is survived by his wife of nine years, Linda Banney; four sons, Walter Banney and his wife, Lisa of Staten Island, Matthew Banney of Howell, David Banney of Maine, and Scott Banney of Howell; and three grandchildren, Maggieann, Kylie and Sunni.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.  Interment will be private.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
