Obituary of Josephine Guarino

Josephine Guarino, 95, of Freehold Township stepped into the presence of Jesus on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at home surrounded by her family.  She was born and raised in Manhattan and settled in Freehold Township in 1962.  Josephine worked as a pari mutuel clerk for Freehold Raceway for over 20 years.  She enjoyed sewing and cooking, especially baking her famous cream puffs. Josephine was a self-taught piano player and enjoyed many sports, especially tennis and ping pong.  Most of all, Josephine loved her family and had a special affection for all children. 

Josephine was predeceased by her husband, Mario Guarino in 1990; son, Michael Guarino in 1988; and grandson, Sean Rockafellow in 2003.  She is survived by her children, Ronald Guarino and his wife, Danita of North Carolina, Joanne Rockafellow and her husband, Donald of Middletown, Thomas Guarino and his wife, Judy of Atlantic Highlands, Peter Guarino and his wife, Sarah of Freehold Boro, Marie Guarino of Freehold Township, Lucille Osborn and her husband, Buddy of Philadelphia, Paula Brown and her husband, Robert Brown III of Florida, and Mario Guarino and his wife, Jacqueline of Freehold Township; daughter-in-law, Sandy Guarino of Jackson; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Freehold.  For those who desire, donations may be made in Josephine’s name to Solutions Crisis Pregnancy, 837 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702.  For information, directions, or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
