Obituary of Willis R. Parker Jr.
Willis R. Parker, Jr., 90 of Farmingdale passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2019 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mr. Parker was born in Neptune and was a lifelong resident of Farmingdale. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart. Mr. Parker worked in the grocery business all his life, initially at Mr. Hillpots, Freehold and just recently at Shop & Bag, Farmingdale, where he retired from in 2018. He was a life member and past Commander of V.F.W., Post #9691. Mr. Parker could always be seen walking around town, was quick with a joke and enjoyed his scratch-offs.
He was predeceased by his 1st wife, Anna and his 2nd wife, Linda. He is survived by his children, Kathy Zrowka and her husband, Joseph of Brick, Kenneth Parker of Vero Beach, FL, and Robert Parker and his wife, Rebecca of Katy, TX; stepchildren, Roger Farwell and his wife, Robin of Hazlet and Linda Knarvik of Belford; five grandchildren, Brian Alcrim of Ohio, Jamie Naibert and her husband, Matthew of Toms River, Ellen Zrowka of Brick, William Stewart of Vero Beach, FL, and Jake Farwell of Hazlet; seven great-granchildren; a brother, Leonard Parker of Mystic, CT; and a sister, Barbara Rumsey of Kingston, NY.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 AM funeral service on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Monmouth Memorial Park.
