Obituary of Howard H. Heinsohn, Jr.

Howard H. Heinsohn, Jr., 79, of Freehold Township passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Brooklyn and settled in Freehold Township in 1978.  Howard earned his Bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn Poly-Technical Institute, he worked as a chemist for over 41 years, 38 of which he spent at International Flavors & Fragrances where he applied for and received 51 patents across the world in Research and Development.

Howard and his wife were very much a team; everything they did, they did together.  His focus in life was family and he was a shining example to his children and grandchildren as a man of faith, compassion and kindness.  In his spare time, Howard’s main hobby was genealogy and he spent hours tracking down ancestors and learning about his heritage and his extended family’s lineage.   He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Freehold, and loved making up and playing games with his grandchildren.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Helene Heinsohn of Freehold Township; son, Paul Heinsohn and his wife, Julie of Freehold Township, Debbie Heinsohn-Robinson and her husband, Bob of Howell, and son, David Heinsohn and his wife, Stacey of Jackson; grandchildren, Holly, Charlotte, Chelsea, Kaity, Hannah, Alicia, Nicholas and Isabella; and great grandchildren, Christian and Cameron.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM funeral service on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold, 118 West Main Street, Freehold.  Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Howard may be made to the Deacons Fund at First Presbyterian Church.  For information, directions or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
