Obituary of Richard S. Karpinski

Richard Karpinski, 60, of Tinton Falls passed away on October 20, 2019 at home. He was born in Red Bank, raised in Hazlet, and resided in Tinton Falls and Asbury Park. Richard was a Certified Financial Planner for almost 40 years. He is in the Raritan High School and Brookdale Community College Athletic Hall of Fame. Richard was the head tennis coach of the Men’s tennis team at Brookdale for over 30 years and achieved the college record for the most wins. He was the former president of the Tinton Falls Business & Professional Association and was a member of the United States Tennis Association. Richard was a recipient of a Herschel Stevens Award, naming him the top tennis coach in the country. He was truly passionate about physical fitness, enjoying tennis, golf, and running. Richard loved a good barbeque and going to the beach, especially Asbury Park and was a diehard New York Met and New York Jet fan.

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Caroline. Richard is survived by his former wife of 30 years, Johna Karpinski of Wanamassa; brother, Robert Karpinski and his wife, Jennifer of Freehold; sisters, Karen Fuhrmann and her husband, Drew of Hampton Falls, NH, and Lisa Earl and her husband, Dan of Wall; nieces and nephews, Kimberly, Emily, Lauren, Meagen, Ashley, Richie, Samantha, Michelle, Robert, John, Steven, and Jennifer; and his dog and best buddy, Louie.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524) Freehold Township on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:30 PM with his Memorial Service to follow. Interment will be private.
