I can never recount the many memories I have of Roy over the years. There is one, though, that made a huge impact on my life and remains with me to this day. Any where Roy could get free wood for the house, he was there. There had been a big storm and a Park Ranger friend of Roy's gave us permission to collect wood from Ocean County Park. They had cut the trees, but Roy cut the logs and I picked them up and loaded them into his trailer. Roy cut the logs about two feet long. He would split them when we got them to the farm. Some of these logs weighed close to, if not, 100 lbs. They were so big, Roy used a long branch as a lever, to roll them into my arms. I would balance them against my body and carry them to the trailer. After a couple of those I happened to look up. There was about six Rangers standing at the treeline watching us. We finished loading the trailer and I rode home on cloud 9. That was Roy, he never doubted you couldn't do something, he just took it for granted that you could! It didn't matter I was young, or a girl. He just taught you what you needed to do and then went from there. Roy you will always be remembered with love and fondness. You were like the big brother I never had.
