Obituary of James Edward Hughes
James Edward Hughes, Jr., 94, passed away on November 2, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in The Bronx and was a lifelong resident of Massapequa Park Village on Long Island. James was a Foreman for Con Edison for over 40 years. He bravely served for his country in the Navy during World War II. James was a devoted family man and enjoyed spending quality time with his kids, grandchildren, and his first great grandchild. During his retirement he had a passion for golfing. He had an incredible sense of humor and could always make the best out of any situation. James was an avid reader along with a gin & tonic. He was a fan of baseball, especially of his hometown team the Yankees, and enjoyed the Saratoga Horse Races.
James was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Marie Hughes. He is survived by his children, James Hughes and his wife, Mary of Floral Park, NY, Patricia Lide and her husband, Kendell of Bloomfield, Richard Hughes of Williston Park, NY, Robert Hughes and his wife, Shanthy of Floral Park, NY, Laura Hughes of NY, Marybeth Cardellichio and her husband Daniel of Howell, Jane Pollan and her husband, Daniel, and Eileen Lombardo and her husband, Dean of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Catherine, James, Henry, Carla, Jahrod, David, Carson, Henry, TJ, Richie, James, Patricia, Emily, Harrison, and Giselle; and one great grandchild, Luca.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 12:00 PM in Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Boulevard, Route 25, Calverton, New York 11933.
