Obituary of Anthony Nicholas Giannattasio

Anthony Nicholas Giannattasio, 74, of Howell passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019 at The Manor, Freehold Township.  He was born in New Orleans, raised in Millburn, and had lived in Perth Amboy before settling in Howell in 1981.  Anthony proudly served in the United States Army during The Vietnam War as a M.P.  He worked as an insurance lawyer for State Farm for over 30 years.  Anthony volunteered at the Monmouth County Library and Hospice, and was also an aid for a blind high school student.  He enjoyed going to the movies with his friends, spending time with his grandchildren, and loved Apple products. 

Anthony was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Claire Helen Giannattasio in 2006.  He is survived by his children, Suzanne O’Brien and her husband, Jason of Tuckerton, and Matthew Giannattasio and his wife, Dana of Jackson; grandchildren, Emma Claire, AJ, and Carly Claire; sister, Mary Rose Minoughan and her husband, Tim of Hazlet; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 8:30AM for the procession to his 9:30AM Funeral Mass at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Route 9, Howell.  Interment will be private.  For those who desire, donations may be made in Anthony’s memory to Holisticare Hospice of New Jersey, 1144 Hooper Avenue, Suite 208, Toms River, New Jersey 08753.  For information, directions, or condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
