Hello, My name is Gregg Kolessar and my family moved to Freehold in 1966 I was in second grade. I went to school at West Freehold as one of the local schools in Freehold. I also played Little League baseball and won many awards and am proud to have grown up in Freehold. After High School I joined the Navy and spent a career there in 3 wars on 3 big ships. When I retired and came back to Freehold my parents were moving to Florida as retirees so I needed a place of my own as a single man. I applied for 1 of Gretchens 3 farm style cottages for rent on Rt.33 and she gladly said to me that she wanted me to have the place. After my military career was over and I had to start over as a civilian back in my hometown she made me feel welcome and I will never ever forget her kindness towards me. I never knew she taught at West Freehold School all those years although I may have heard her name in school back then for sure. I just thought of her as my nice landlord woman but I surely would have brought up my good memories of going to school in Freehold with her. I do not know where the last 30 years have gone to I only stayed in the farm cottage for 1 year and moved here to Florida with the rest of my family but she wished me well when I left and I am glad to have read that she did spend time in Florida enjoying her retirement. She gave this sailor a nice place to stay when I needed it the most upon my military retirement and made me feel welcomed back to my hometown and I really appreciated her kindness. I am just reading this now about her passing away over 2 years ago and I want to say THANK YOU!!
