Obituary of Daniel C. Olmizzi
Daniel C. Olmizzi, 78, of Jackson passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020. He was born in Derry, PA, lived in New Brunswick, NJ, Edison, NJ, and Old Bridge, NJ where he lived for 40 years, before he settled in Jackson ten years ago. Daniel worked for the Local Union 456 for over 30 years as an Electrician retiring in 2001. He bravely served in the United States Navy. Daniel enjoyed boating and fishing in his spare time. He could be found taking walks on the beach and boardwalk especially in Belmar, his favorite place. Daniel enjoyed the activities offered in his community, particularly Bocci. Daniel was an amazing cook, making many home cooked meals for his family, and was fan of the NY Giants. He was passionate about traveling and taking on new adventures with his wife and friends. Daniel was a very supportive grandfather and would never miss any of his grandchildren’s events. He had a great sense of humor and always knew how to make everyone smile. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle.
He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Naomi Olmizzi. Daniel is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Joan Olmizzi of Jackson; children, Sandra Turi and her husband, Kevin of Manalapan, Laura Valentino and her husband, Lawrence of Freehold; grandchildren, Julia, Alexa, Christopher, Daniel, and Matthew; sisters, Ethel Bunn of Milltown and Connie Sakash and her husband, Roger of Monroe; sister-in-law, Cindy Cinege and her husband, Joe of Jackson; brother-in-law, Robert Tillotson of Toms River; mother-in-law, Rose Tillotson of Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 29, 2020 for the procession to his 10:00 AM Memorial Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township. Interment will be private.
