Obituary of Christine M. Cordano
Christine M. Cordano, 71, of Freehold Township passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Wedgwood Gardens, Freehold Township, after a long, courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born and raised in Bayonne where she was a parishioner of St. Henry Catholic Church, and also lived in Queens and Jersey City. Christine attended Holy Family Academy in Bayonne where she studied business. She had a love of music and the performing arts, playing violin in the orchestra, and participating in school musicals. She was employed for 30 years as a legal secretary until her diagnosis. She then pursued an academic career at N.J. City University, majoring in Music and Psychology, and received her B.A. Degree in 1999. While attending college, she was able to enjoy traveling to several countries with her classmates. Christine was passionate about helping others, serving as chairperson of her MS Support Group, and participating in many activities of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Christine is predeceased by her parents, Preston and Dorothy Cordano of Bayonne; and her sister, Rosanne Libby of Norfolk, Virginia. She is survived by her loving siblings; Camille Lammers and her husband George of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Kenneth Cordano and his wife, Melissa of Jersey City. Christine also leaves behind her long-time, loving companion and friend, Joe Hirsch, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 10:30 AM Memorial Mass on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean Street, Freehold.
