Obituary of Ruth M. Shymko
Ruth M. Shymko, 95, of Freehold passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Mattison Crossing Nursing Home. She was born and raised in Newark, lived in Old Bridge in 1963, and came to Freehold in 1977. Ruth was a social butterfly and made an impact on every person she met. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to Atlantic City. Ruth could often be found taking shopping trips to the dollar store. She was the last of her generation. Above all, Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Palmieri; her second husband, Nick Shymko; son-in-law, Charles Perez; and his two brothers and three sisters. Ruth is survived by her children, James Palmieri and his wife, Linda of Woodbridge, Gayle Kurtz and her husband, Harry of Jackson, and Deborah Perez of Freehold; grandchildren, David Palmieri and his wife, Kathy, Greg Palmieri and his wife, Mihwa, Brian Kurtz, Kevin Kurtz, Candace Perez, and Nicholas Perez; great grandchildren, Dylan, Derrick, Mia, Jack, Olivia, and Brianna; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private services will be held for the immediate family on Monday, May 11, 2020 from 9:30 to 10:00 AM with a private funeral service to follow. Entombment will take place in Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel. A memorial service to honor Ruth will be held at a later date.
