William O'Meara

Obituary of William O'Meara

William F. O’Meara, 87, of Eatontown passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at home. He was born and raised in Jersey City, lived in Howell, and settled in Eatontown. William bravely served in the United States Navy. He worked as a Postal Worker at USPS at Fort Monmouth and retired in his 60’s. William then took a fulltime position at Macy’s for Ralph Lauren at the Monmouth Mall because he was bored. He most recently worked for Boscov’s. William was a true Irishman, he had that twinkle in his eye, and spun tales that always made you wonder if they were real or not. He fought off demons from his youth and became a father and grandfather that was steadfast in his support to his family. William had a bounce in his step and worked a 40-hour work week, always finishing the night off at the Monmouth Park Racetrack. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met and will be missed by all who knew him.

William was predeceased by his daughter, Sharon Girard in 2019; and parents, William O’Meara and Margaret Niland. He is survived by his loving children, Patricia Coffey and her husband, Kevin of Millstone, Kathleen Caleca and her husband, John Gonnella of Upper Saddle River, Mary Ellen O’Meara and her partner, George Eisenhauer of Leland, North Carolina, and Robert O’Meara and his wife, Elen of Virginia Beach; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Charles Girard of Fredericksburg, VA.
