Obituary of Michael D. Kaufman

Michael Kaufman, 80, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2020 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold, NJ.

Known as “Mickey” by his family and friends, he was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Mickey graduated from Lafayette High School in 1957, attended Pace College of Accounting, and later went on to serve in the U.S. Army for 6 years through 1965. After his service in the military, Mickey began his career in sales by working as a Piece Goods Salesman for Cohn Hall Marx, in Manhattan. He later joined Rueben H. Donnelley Corporation of Staten Island / Manhattan, where he worked as an Account Executive for over 35 years. In his retirement, he also worked in Advertising Sales for the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce.

He and his wife Hedy, of 56 years, lived most of their married life in Old Bridge, NJ, where Mickey enjoyed bowling and writing creative letters of suggestions and ideas to help his local community. He was also so very passionate about his volunteer work, singing and playing music for several local nursing homes and senior centers. Soon after his retirement, he and Hedy relocated to the wonderful Four Seasons Metedeconk adult community in Jackson, NJ.

Mickey will be remembered for his silly jokes, love of music, avid cruising, and a challenging game of scrabble. He was very nostalgic and will be remembered, most of all, for how much he loved just spending time with his family. He was compassionate, devoted, and always wanted to make everyone happy.

Mickey is survived by his beloved wife, Hedy; sister, Carol; daughter, Glenda and her partner, Thomas; and daughter, Renee and her wife, Deena and their son Tyler.

All arrangements are under the direction of the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. A private graveside service will be held in Washington Cemetery, South Brunswick. For information or to leave condolence messages to the family, visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com.
