DEAR CARA AND SABRINA, I DO NOT WHERE TO START,BUT LETS GO BACK TO 1973 WHEN I MET A 15 YEAR OLD NAMED TONY BUTTO JR. FROM THE FIRST TIME I MET TONY THERE WAS A REAL BOND THAT ONLY CONTINUED AND FLOURISHED WITH THE MANY YEARS WE WERE TOGETHER. WHEN MY CHILDREN MET TONY HE WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATE PART OF OUR FAMILY. I SPOKE TO TONY LAST WEEK AND WE WERE REMINISTING ABOUT OUR PAST HISTORY ,AND THE THE CRAZY PEOPLE WE WORKED FOR. EVERYONE IN THE COMPANY AND OUR CUSTOMERS HAD VERY HIGH REGARD FOR HIM, HE WAS ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP AND WAS JUST A REAL GREAT GUY,IT IS VERY HARD TO PUT INTO WORDS THE LOSS THAT I FEEL,I LOVED TONY AND ONE DAY WE WILL BE WORKING TOGETHER AGAIN. WITH DEEPEST SYMPATHY.LOVE HOWIE BORRESS
Ok Tony, here I go. I can't even begin to process this. I met you when I was 3. Im 49 now. You have always been like a big brother to me. During my childhood, when you werent working with with my dad Howie, uncle Matt and brother Gary in this crazy electric business, we always hung out. The rides on the back of you bike, taking me to Martin's for my first beer and roast beef and bringing me to the ear inn when I was way too young :). Carving my name on a tree for me in back of my parents house in new city with the pocket knife you always carried and always having my back. When I started working side by side with you on 1992, that's when I really felt part of your world. I went from following you around the job sites in lefrak city, emergencies in Brooklyn at 2am, working at Ralph's discount in Tribeca and the hundreds of other crazy job sites to becoming a foreman and running big crews in NYC high rises, jersey city and 40 west especially. Remember when we used to work live onus bars? What were we thinking back them. During 9/11 you worked your ass of down there and you and I spend a lot of time together in Battery Park City during the clean up. It was a mess, but it was just another day to you. We celebrated happy times at your wedding then mine soon after. We went through all the union craziness together and even when we weren't working together, knowing that you were a phone call away was always comforting. I'm so sad you left us and really miss you. I know I'm supposed to write something here to share about you, but I'd rather write to you as maybe you can read this somehow. Thank you for being a great friend to me and always being loyal to my family. I have a million memories I'll write some more soon.. Cara and Sabrina, all I can say I 'm really sorry for you loss. Toy was your world and you were his from day 1. He always wanted to work hard for you guys so you would have everything in life. Please remember that. I write this deep from my heart.
