Obituary of Carol Anne Jenssen

Carol Anne Jenssen, 76, of Howell Township passed away at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 30, 2020. She was born and raised in Glossup, UK.  Carol served in her Majesties’ Army in the Signal Corp based in Singapore.  She came to the United States in 1966. Carol lived in Hackensack, Bogota, and Oakland taking residence in Howell Twp. three years ago to be closer to her grandchildren. She worked as a travel agent for Callahan Travel in Franklin Lakes, until her retirement. Carol was also an Avon representative for many years. Oakland. She was a member and recorder at T.O.P.S.  Carol served as a den leader for Cub Scout Pack 49 & assisted with Boy Scout Troop 49.  She had a passion for travel and had journeyed throughout the US, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe. Carol crocheted, knitted, did needle point, worked in a yarn store, and participated in the Library Knitting Group.   She was an avid reader, mostly sci-fi and novels and played the piano and the guitar all while cheering for her favorite soccer team, Manchester City F.C.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Paul J. Jenssen; two sons, Kevin P. Jenssen and his wife, Susan of Hermon, Maine and James R. Jenssen and his wife, Claudia of Howell; two grandchildren, Oliver and Natalia; and brother Kevin Betts and his wife, May of the United Kingdom.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road, Freehold Township on Monday, August 3, 2020, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Friends and relatives are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at 8:30 AM for the procession to her 9:30 AM funeral mass at the Church of St. Veronica, 4215 Highway 9, Howell. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, Marlboro. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines.
