Obituary of Anthony Ruggiero

Anthony Ruggiero, 79, of Freehold passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.  Tony was born and raised in Brooklyn.  He moved to Freehold in 1996 to be closer to his grandchildren.  Tony retired from Exxon as a coordinator in the printing department working first in NYC, then Linden, and retiring from Florham Park.  He was an active member of the Surrey Downs Community and Men’s Club, where he was the photographer for the past eleven years.  A parishioner of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, Tony served as a eucharistic minister.  A true renaissance man, he had a passion for molding ceramics, creating stained-glass, and listening to his music.  Most important, Tony was a devoted husband, loving dad, and Pops.

“Anthony’s family always came first.  He always made it his point to be there for the ones he loved.  During his retirement years in Surrey Downs, Tony enjoyed staying involved in the community to help make lasting memories.”

He was predeceased by his son, Anthony; a brother, Joseph; and two sisters, Adie and Rae.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Annette; a daughter, Janice, her husband, Jose; and two grandchildren, Michael and Christopher. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 10:00 AM.  For those who cannot attend in person, the funeral service will be webcast via www.claytonfuneralhome.com. Interment will be private.  For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines.
