Obituary of Antonina Gozzo

Antonina Gozzo, 88, of Howell passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township. Antonina was born and raised in Acireale, Sicily, Italy and came to the United States in 1958 settling in Brooklyn.  She lived in Paterson and moved to Manalapan in 1975 before moving to Howell in 2002. Antonina worked as a seamstress in Paterson.  A former parishioner of St. Thomas More Church in Manalapan, Antonina was a devout Catholic.  Known as Nonna, taking care of her family was the most important thing to her. 

She was predeceased by four brothers and a sister.  Antonina is survived by her husband of 63 years, Michele Gozzo; her three children, Salvatore Gozzo and his wife, Maureen of Toms River, Teresa Craven and her husband, Donald of Freehold, and Gioacchina Gozzo of Howell; grandchildren, Michael Gozzo and his wife, Laura, Daniel Gozzo, Kyle Craven, Dylan Craven, and Danielle Craven; greatgrandchild, Kaylee (Daniel’s daughter); and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:00 AM at the funeral home for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Entombment will take place in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.  For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines.
