Obituary of Lois E. Hopkins
Lois E. Hopkins, 91, of Howell passed away at home on Tuesday, August 18, 2020. She was born in Asbury Park in 1928 to Ernest and Arrabella Kaiser. Lois grew up in Bradley Beach and graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1946. She studied piano and organ with Thelma Mount Ranier, and attended Guilmant Organ School in NYC.
In 1947 Lois was honored to play the organ at the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove at the Neptune High School graduation. She was an organist and choir director at several area churches and taught piano and organ. In later years, Lois was a secretary in Radiology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
In 1986 Lois and her husband retired to Punta Gorda, FL and Port Charlotte, FL only to later return to Wall Township before settling in Howell.
Lois was predeceased by her beloved husband, Esek “Hoppy” Hopkins in 2011; sister, Charlotte Miller and sister-in-law, Evelyn Thorpe. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Stauffer and her husband, Grant of Howell and son, William Hopkins and his wife, Myrtle of Florida; grandchildren, Jennifer Bondarew and her husband, Nicholas of Howell, Grant Stauffer, Jr. and his wife, Angela of North Carolina, Pamela Elleson and her husband Chris of Georgia and William Hopkins, Jr. and his wife, Alessa of Michigan; twelve great grandchildren, Tyler, Logan, Alex, Austin, Charlotte, Nicole, Madison, Logan, Weston, Jackson, Nathan and Jake; niece, Laurel Avery of Virginia; and other family members.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM with her funeral service to follow. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required.
