Obituary of John V. Janny
John V. Janny, 92, of Freehold passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at The Orchards at Bartley in Jackson. He was born in Manhattan, raised in Queens, and lived in Brooklyn with his wife. John and Kathleen then moved to Staten Island before they settled to Freehold in 1970. He worked as a financial controller for N.L. Industries of Highstown for 45 years. John proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Thunderbirds 45th Heavy Tank Division. He was a devoted parishioner and founding member of the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine. John enjoyed golfing, fishing, and traveling. He also loved to cook. He had a true thirst for knowledge, everything interested him. John was above all, passionate about spending quality time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen V. Janny; brother, Joseph Janny; and his parents, John and Hermine Janny. John is survived by his sons, John Janny and his wife, Grace of Millstone, and Jerry Janny and his fiancée, Janet Oreo of Howell; daughters, Kathy Delio and her husband, Michael of Freehold, and Suzanne Geherty and her husband, Todd of Ewing Township; four grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, Gina Maria, and Sean; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 9:00 AM for the procession to his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.
