Obituary of Francesca Lo Pinto
Francesca Lo Pinto, 89, of Mantoloking formerly of Freehold Township passed away peacefully on Sunday October 11, 2020 (four days shy of her 90th birthday) at home surrounded by her family. Frances was born and raised in Ciminna, Provence of Palermo, Italy and had lived there until coming to the United States in 1955 settling in New York City. She had lived in Brooklyn to raise her family and then moved to Freehold Township in 2007. Frances just recently moved in 2018 to Mantoloking to live with her daughter Sandy and son-in-law Mike. She worked as a seamstress for the I.L.G.W.U., first in New York City, then Long Island City, and retired in Brooklyn after working for 40 years. While working, she raised her daughters, managed her home, and flourished in her passion for making homemade meals (a skill that she passed along to her family). Frances was a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring Nonna.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, Vito Lo Pinto in 2011; four brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her two daughters, Lena Giardina and her husband, Tony of Old Bridge, NJ and Sandy Maffattone and her husband, Mike of Mantoloking, NJ; three grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, and Christina; a brother, Michael Gambino and his wife, Maria of Staten Island, NY; a sister-in-law, Rita Gambino of North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews; and her affectionate grand-dog, Pearl.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 9:00 AM for the procession to her 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township, NJ. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required. Entombment will follow in Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island.
