Obituary of Dayton Lewis
DAYTON E. LEWIS, 83, of HOWELL, died Monday, Dec. 17, at Care One at Jackson, Jackson. Mr. Lewis was born in Hunlock Creek, Pa., and lived in Parlin and Laurence Harbor before moving to Howell in 1962.
He was a gateline welder for Ford Motor Co., Metuchen, for 30 years, retiring in 1982. Mr. Lewis was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II in the European Theater.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Lewis; a son and daughter-in-law, Dayton E. and Barbara Lewis of Howell; five grandchildren, Michelle, Laura, Bonnie, Kimberly and Brian; two great-grandchildren, Josh and Logan; and two sisters, Leona Guild of New York, and Elda Smith of Hunlock Creek, Pa.
Visiting hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dan Brindley officiating.
