Obituary of John Arthur O'Leary

John Arthur O’Leary , 66, of Farmingdale passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 12, 2020. He was born and raised in Newburgh NY, and lived in Avenel, NJ before settling in Farmingdale. John was in Business Development at Businessland, Inc.  Most recently he was employed as a physical education teacher in Asbury Park at the Barack Obama Elementary School. A true athlete John was on the NFA championship football team and enjoyed swimming; most of his family credits their own swimming & diving skills to him. His favorite place was the Catskill Mountains and loved to ski; it was in the Catskills that John was on the National Ski Patrol and attended many concerts at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Affectionately known as Johnny to his siblings they will treasure the memories, sense of humor and being the glue that held his family together.  He will forever be remembered as a thoughtful, kind, and generous person. 

John is predeceased by his parents Daniel and Stasia; He is survived by his wife, Myra O’Leary and son Sean O’Leary; sister, Mary Lu Pool of Milton Delaware; brothers Daniel I. O’Leary and Gerald E. O’Leary; nephew Jamie Pool and niece Kathleen O’Leary. 

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 10:00 to 2:00 PM with his Funeral Service to follow.
