Obituary of Anthony M. Morro

Anthony M. Morro, 84, of Howell, beloved husband of Jane Shapiro Morro passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, December 14, 2020. He was born and raised in Guttenberg, NJ; the son of the late Thomas and Raphaela Morro. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1958 and graduated from St. Peter’s College in 1966. He was a member of the Palisades Ski Club and rented houses at the Jersey Shore with friends in the summers.  Anthony moved to Middletown with Jane in 1973 to raise their family and then to the Equestra Community, Howell in 2009.  He retired as the Chief Financial Officer of Kingswood Growth Fund, Jersey City after thirty years of dedicated service.  A devout Catholic, Anthony was a parishioner and member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale.  He was parishioner of the Parish of St. Mary’s, Middletown and volunteered at their fair every year and was an original member of the Perpetual Adoration Society. Anthony loved taking walks and riding his classic Schwinn bicycle around the neighborhood. He enjoyed playing cards, pickle ball, and watching races at Monmouth Park. He was a member of the Equestra Train Club and an officer in the NJ Association of Public Accountants. Anthony was dedicated and loyal and had many lifelong friendships. He was a devoted and loving husband for 50 years, a proud father and a role model to his children. His greatest joy came from being ‘Pop-Pop’ and spending time with his grandchildren.   

Anthony was predeceased by five siblings, Thomas Morro, John Morro, Nellie Morro, Peter Morro, and William Morro.  He is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Gina Graham and her husband, Christian of Middletown and John Morro and his wife, Megan of Tinton Falls; three grandchildren, Thomas, Dax Anthony, and Alexis; siblings, Frank Morro of Brielle, Daniel Morro of Old Tappan, and cherished sister, Maryann Morro of Manchester; a sister-in-law, Pamela Fioretti and her husband, Joseph of Howell; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, great grandnephews, extended family, and dear friends.   

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Service at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 31 Asbury Road, Farmingdale on Monday, December 21, 2020.  For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required. Those who cannot attend in person, you may participate via webcast through Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home’s website HERE.  Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C.
