Obituary of Peter M. Lauria
Peter M. Lauria, 90, of Freehold Township passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at home. Peter was born and raised in Jersey City. He lived in Cliffwood and Lakewood before moving to Freehold Township in 1980. Prior to retiring from General Motors, Linden in 1994, after 30 dedicated years of service, Peter owned and operated Pete’s Barber Shop in the Atlantic Highlands. He proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the V.F.W., Post 9521, Lakewood. A yearning for being outside, Peter liked to hunt and fish but keeping his yard pristine was he passion. Being able to fix anything came easy to him but being morally sound and giving generously was just as easy. Peter was a devoted husband, loving Dad, and an adoring Pop and Pop-Pop.
Peter was predeceased by his wife, Emma Lauria; a daughter, Angela; three brothers, Charles, James and William; and a sister, Madeline. He is survived by his six children, Mary Ann Belloni and her husband, George D. of Howell, William Anthony Lauria of Toms River, Antoinette Ramirez and husband, Hector of Howell, Peter Michael Lauria and his wife, Danielle of Jackson, Elizabeth Schwartz and her husband, Jay of Jackson and James Charles Lauria and his wife, Jessica of Stokesdale, NC; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required. Those who cannot attend in person, you may participate via webcast through Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home’s website HERE. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C.
