Obituary of Laura Leone

Laura Leone, 91, of Freehold Township passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township.  She was born in Molfetta, Italy in the Province of Bari and immigrated to the US in 1962, first settling in Hoboken and Weehawken, and eventually moving here in 1998.  Laura worked as a seamstress for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union in North Bergen.  A woman of faith, she was a former parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church, Hoboken and St. Augustine Catholic Church in Union City, before joining the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine.  Known as Grandma to her adoring grandchildren, and Nonna to her treasured great grandchildren, she enjoyed sewing, was a phenomenal cook, and loved spending time with family and friends. 

Laura was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Felice Leone in 1990.  She is survived by two sons, Dominick Leone and his wife, Kim of Howell, and Steve Leone and his wife, Kelly of Freehold Township; four grandchildren, Christopher Leone and his wife, Casey, Bridget Auletta and her husband, Michael, Lauren Leone and Steven Leone; and three great grandchildren Cecelia, Ella and Dominick.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited participate via webcast through Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home’s website HERE.
