Obituary of Geraldine A. Besignano

Geraldine A. Besignano, 80 of Manchester passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home on Friday, January 15, 2021.  Chickie was born on Staten Island and raised her family with her husband, John in the Eltingville section.  She moved to Howell, NJ in 1985 along with her husband John.  They retired to Rotunda West, Florida and returned to New Jersey in 2014 and settled in Manchester.  Chickie had a skill for many arts & crafts, including ceramics, painting, crocheting, and home decorating.  She loved animals especially her little dog “Gracie”.  She embraced new things, enjoying Facebook and YouTube on her IPad.  Chickie was an amazing cook and host, hence the name of her boat “The Shalimar”.  She had a passion for travel in the RV, exploring many parts of the United States and visiting Friends and Family throughout the country.  Chickie and her husband enjoyed themselves but most of all they loved being with their friends and family. 

Chickie is survived by her husband of 61 years, John L. Besignano; four children, John Besignano of Howell, Dianne Kreft and her husband, James of Howell, Michael Besignano and his wife, Stephanie of Tampa, and Steven Besignano and his wife, Denise of Howell, nine grandchildren, John, Joseph, Desiree, Michael, Christina, James, Emma, Jenna and Nicholas, and three great grandchildren, Gia, Alina and Michael.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with her memorial service to follow at 7:00 PM.  Relatives and friends who cannot attend in person are invited to participate via webcast HERE.  For the safety of the public, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines.  Facemasks will be required.  For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38015.  For information, directions, or to leave condolence messages to the family please visit www.claytonfuneralhome.com
