Obituary of Mary E. Howell

Mary E. Howell, 70, of Freehold Township passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.  She was born and raised in Orangeburg, SC and had lived in Newark and East Orange before settling in Freehold in 2019.  Mary worked as an insurance agent for many years and then as a nurse’s assistant prior to her retirement. Most recently she worked as a clerk in a local supermarket. Mary loved to do crossword puzzles and read romance and historical novels.  She also enjoyed binging her favorite shows, Supernatural and Lucifer. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed.

Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Charlie and Edward Ginyard; and sister, Patricia “Josie” Nelson.  She is survived by her children, Sharen Howell of Newark, James E. Howell, Jr. and his wife, Doris of Newark, Valerie Howell of Freehold, and Timothy Howell and his wife, Sharika of Georgia; grandchildren, Tarik Howell, Devin Howell, Jameel Brown, Dorian Howell, Sabrina Dooley, Tre-ana Forney, Michael Forney, and Demetric Forney; great grandchild, Daryl Dooley; and sisters, Dorothy Davis and Mary Ann Hughes.
