Obituary of Elizabeth Mangine

Elizabeth “Lil” Mangine (nee Reilly-McMorrow), 76, of Manalapan passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at home surrounded by her family after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was born in Belfast, Ireland and immigrated to the United States in 1963.  Settling in New York City, Lil stayed with relatives while she worked on Wall Street, sending money to the McMorrows back in Ireland.  The rest of the family moved to New York City over the next six years. 

She married Thomas F. Mangine in 1965 and soon moved to Old Tappan to start a family.  In 1975, Lil and her family, moved to Manalapan.  Over the course of her life Lil held several different jobs, including one with the Manalapan-Englishtown School District and another in the Office of Accountant Morris Zacowitz before spending twenty-five years as an Accountant for Western Monmouth Utilities Authority.  Lil finally retired in 2012.

A good dancer and singer, Lil loved music and was proud of her Irish heritage, often leading family gatherings in song.  Her favorite memories were of times in her home on Yorktowne Drive hosting relatives from Ireland, England, Australia and across the US. Neither age, injuries nor cancer ever diminished her love of family and friends.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Thomas F. Mangine this past August; brother, John McMorrow; and sister, Margaret Gribben. Lil is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa Maglione of Manalapan; son, Thomas J. Mangine of Downers Grove, IL; granddaughter, Erin; brother, William McMorrow; and sister, Marie Guzy.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM with her funeral service to follow. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required. Interment will be private.
