Obituary of Gaetana Palazzolo

Gaetana Palazzolo, 90, of Freehold peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at her daughters home surrounded by her family. She was born in Cinisi, of the province Palermo, in Sicily, Italy. Gaetana came to the United States on February 24, 1970 and had lived in Brooklyn before settling to Freehold in 1995. She was an Environmental Services Worker in the Chanin Building in Manhattan.

She was predeceased by her husband, Pietro Palazzolo; son-in-law, Salvatore Vitale; four brothers; and three sisters. Gaetana is survived by her daughters, Rosetta Vitale of Freehold, and Vita Mazzola and her husband, Antonino of Manalapan; grandchildren, Leonard Vitale and his wife, Cindy, Peter Vitale and his wife, Rachel, Sal Vitale Jr., Gregory Vitale, Stephanie Sottosanti and her husband, Michael, Nicole Cifelli and her husband, Mark, Anthony Mazzola and his wife, Alexis, and John Peter Mazzola and his wife, Carla; great grandchildren, Leonardo, Gianluca, Rosalia, Mila Rose, Michael, Amelia, Christiana, Antonio, and Matteo; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. For those that cannot attend in person, the family invites you to participate via Webcast through the Funeral Home website HERE. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 9:30 AM on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Funeral Home for the procession to her 11:00 AM Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, 549 County Road 520, Marlboro.  For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery & Chapel Mausoleum, 549 County Road 520, Marlboro.
