Obituary of Catherine M. Anastasio
Catherine M. Anastasio, known to all who knew and loved her as “Kitty”, of Howell passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was 86 years old. Catherine was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Old Bridge prior to settling in Howell in 1988. She worked at M. Scott Carpenter Elementary School and Madison Central High School in Old Bridge. Catherine then worked as an accounting clerk for Mitsui USA in New York City, retiring in 2000. Catherine never missed a Yankee game and most recently became a Philadelphia Eagles football fan. She enjoyed listening to Darius Rucker and Jerry Vale. Catherine enjoyed going to the beach all summer long, but one of her favorites was her yearly LBI summer vacation with all her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook for family and friends and most importantly, spend time with her grandchildren.
Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Anastasio and brother, Anthony Cotroneo. She is survived by her children, Donna Sandomierski and her husband, Robert of Howell, Barbara Cavasin and her husband, Brian of Howell, Michael Anastasio and his wife, Carolyn of Shark River Hills, and Christine Lonigro and her husband, Frank of Shark River Hills; twelve grandchildren, Robert Sandomierski, Joseph Sandomierski and his wife, Erica, Anthony Sandomierski and his wife, Genna, Nicholas Cavasin, Lauren Cavasin, Danielle Cavasin, Alexa Kwok and her husband, Justin, Jessica Anastasio and her fiancée, Alexa Porges, Michael Anastasio, Jenna Lonigro, Nicole Lonigro, and Stephanie Lonigro; great grandson, Joey Sandomierski; brother, Pasquale Cotroneo and his wife, Lorraine of Jackson; sister, Loretta Crispe and her husband, Anthony of Jackson and many adoring nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Monday, March 29, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:30 PM with her funeral service to follow. For the safety of the public and our staff, we are asking everyone to help us adhere to the CDC guidelines. Facemasks will be required. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM for procession to Holy Cross Burial Park & Mausoleum, East Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Catherine’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
